Live, Love, Label

Hello everyone!

Today's Solution Saturday will be focused on the life changing art of labeling.

Adding labels ensures that you and your family can quickly locate items in your home, and they have a specified place after use. Everything has a designated spot/home, so there's no reason to leave items just lying around.

To get started, gather home items (cleaning supplies, craft materials, kitchen items ) or specific items (spices, flour, markers) and sort them into categories. Then place them into appropriate containers. It is important to affix labels to the storage containers so your new organization system can be maintained.

Here are some examples of labeling possibilities:

Books:

Label your kids’ books to find them quickly

Spice cabinet:

Label your spices to find them quickly

Kitchenware:

Label your kitchen supplies to find them quickly

When selecting labels, keep the look and feel of the room in mind and the material of the container. If you are using baskets, labels will need to be tied on using hang tags or bin clips so they stay put. Chalkboard or sticker labels work great on glass, wood and plastic containers. Check online for pre-printed labels for spice and baking supplies. IKEA, The Container Store and Target also sell a variety of labels to use to customize your new organization system. It can be fun to handwrite labels or use a P-touch, a great handheld label maker. I use both handwritten and printed label techniques in my clients' homes, depending on the bin material and whichever looks best in that particular environment. Of course, feel free to contact me if you have any questions on how to bring labels into your life!

Happy Saturday and happy organizing!

Best,

Laura
